The Epic Walk for Domestic Violence

Epic Hair Designs, one of Brisbane’s leading hair salons, made a strong statement last month, leading a hoard of 200 supporters in the inaugural Epic Walk for Domestic Violence, raising over $26,000 for Women’s Legal Service. A sea of purple took off from Newstead Park to publicly take a stand against Domestic Violence, demonstrating that the community is willing to band together in making the world a safer place for all victims of Domestic violence, which sadly, continues to rise behind closed doors in Australia, affecting 1 in 6 Women.

It’s evident in our homes, workplaces, schools and our communities. It is the leading cause of homelessness in Women and Children as they are more likely to experience violence at the hands of a partner. These statistics certainly shine a light on the gravity of the situation in Australia, but many victims of domestic violence don’t report their experience.

Epic Hair Designs feels determined to help make a difference, giving back to the Women in our communities. The Epic Walk for Domestic Violence is our way of supporting those affected and demonstrating our hope for the future. All proceeds raised through our efforts have been donated to Women’s Legal Service Queensland in a bid to help reduce the impact of domestic violence in Queensland and the nation at large.

To our valued community who joined us last month, as well as other industry leaders such as Big W, The Lions Club and more – thank you. There is no true value that can be placed on the positive impacts this will create in the lives of Domestic Violence Victims.
