Epic has worked with professional hair extensions since 2008. We have watched methods and brands arrive, change and return in new forms. After years of fitting, wearing, removing and reapplying extensions with real clients, tape remains the system we choose to offer.
Eighteen years of extension experience
Epic began offering hair extensions in 2008. Showpony has remained part of our extension work throughout that history, even while our teams trained across and trialled other systems, including weft extensions, and tested other extension brands. The extension market has moved through waves of new attachment ideas, installation trends and brand promises.
Some methods can create an impressive result on day one. The more useful test comes later: how the hair feels at home, how visible or bulky the attachment becomes as it grows, how easily the client can brush and style it, and what is involved when it is time to remove and reapply it.
Our experience keeps bringing us back to tape. It gives an extension specialist flexibility with placement and weight, creates a broad attachment that can sit flat when correctly fitted, and allows suitable hair to be removed, retaped and reapplied during maintenance. That continuity has helped Epic build one of the region’s most established multi salon tape extension teams.

The client experience that matters
A beautiful finish matters. So does week two, wash four, the morning school run and the next maintenance appointment.
Your stylist plans placement around how you wear your hair, where you part it, your natural density and the styles you need to create. The goal is hair you can live in, not a result that only works in the salon chair.
Tape extensions grow down with the natural hair. At the appropriate visit they can be professionally removed, prepared with new tape and repositioned closer to the scalp if the hair remains suitable for reuse.
Extensions should not sit as a separate curtain underneath the haircut. Thoughtful distribution, more than one shade where needed, and a finishing cut help the extension hair move with your own.
If your natural hair, scalp, budget or maintenance commitment does not support the result you want, the consultation should say so. A smaller volume plan or a later appointment can be the better decision.
Why Epic offers tape extensions
There is no single extension method that every salon or every client must prefer. Wefts, individual bonds, beads and temporary pieces all attach and maintain differently. Epic has chosen not to carry every available method.
Our decision is based on repeat wear, not novelty. For the clients our teams see every day, tape gives us the most useful balance of discreet placement, adaptable distribution, colour choice, removal and reapplication.
Flat adhesive tabs are placed in planned sections. Suitable pieces can be professionally removed, retaped and reapplied at maintenance.
Hair is installed across rows or tracks, commonly with beads or stitching. The weight, row position and maintenance experience differ from tape.
Smaller individual attachment points can create detailed distribution, with a different installation, removal and grow out experience.
Removed at home after wear. They can suit occasional styling but are not the ongoing salon fitted service offered by Epic.
The point is not that every other method is wrong. It is that Epic knows exactly which system it is prepared to stand behind, refit and maintain.
The brand we keep returning to
Showpony is an Australian born professional extension brand established in 2008. Its tape systems use A+ grade Remy human hair, with the cuticles aligned in one direction to support a smoother, more natural finish when the hair is correctly cared for.
Tape extensions today are not frozen in 2008. Hair quality, attachment formats, colour choices and the way stylists plan placement have continued to develop. Showpony now gives an Epic specialist different tape formats to consider, rather than expecting one attachment to suit every density and section.
Not every section needs the same tape
Density, hairline, colour, desired movement and where the client wants to part or tie the hair all influence placement. The consultation allows the specialist to choose the amount, shade mix and tape format, rather than applying a standard map to every head.
Versatile tape pairs can build length and fullness through the interior, with the amount and spacing planned around the natural hair.
A finer tape profile can support more discreet placement where density, sectioning and visibility require a lighter visual result.
Hair is sewn into the tape weft to mimic the appearance of hair from the scalp, offering another flat, discreet option for suitable areas.
What tape extensions can change
Some clients want a long transformation. Others want their fine ends to look fuller, a short haircut to feel more substantial, or extra colour dimension without lightening more of their natural hair. The number of packs and placement should follow the goal.
Build a longer silhouette with enough hair and colour variation to connect the natural length to the finished result.
Support finer or less dense lengths so the perimeter appears fuller while preserving believable movement.
Distribution considers natural density, tension, visibility, parting and the result required from each section.
More than one extension shade can create depth, brightness or contrast without forcing every tone into a single match.
Finishing and blending help the natural hair and extension hair move as one result rather than two separate lengths.
Your extension consultation
An extension consultation is not simply a shade check. Your specialist needs to understand what you want the hair to do, how much natural hair must be connected to the new length, and whether your current hair and scalp can comfortably support the plan.
Bring clear hair inspiration, but expect the conversation to be about your own density, current cut, colour, lifestyle, styling habits, budget and willingness to return for maintenance.
The Epic appointment journey
The best result is not produced by adding the greatest possible amount of hair. It comes from a clear plan, clean application and a finish designed around the client.
Assess the natural hair, scalp, goal, history, daily routine and maintenance commitment.
Select length, shades, amount and tape format. Availability and ordering are confirmed where required.
Apply in clean sections with distribution planned around density, tension, movement and visibility.
Cut and style the finished hair so the natural length connects rather than sitting above the extensions.
Leave with care guidance and a return plan, usually around four to six weeks for a Showpony tape move up.

Tape maintenance labour is listed from $88 per 30 minutes, with new tapes listed at $43. The time required depends on the number of pieces, removal, preparation and reapplication.
Current Epic terms list a 16% Saturday surcharge. Your consultation quote should confirm every relevant cost before the application appointment is booked.
Home care and maintenance
Extension hair does not receive the same natural scalp oils as growing hair. Product choice, brushing, heat, sleep, swimming and the timing of your move up all influence softness, attachment security and how long the hair remains suitable for reuse.
Chemical services need planning. Showpony advises that extension hair should not be coloured, bleached, permed, chemically straightened or treated with keratin. Choose the extension colour in consultation and speak with Epic before booking any chemical service while wearing extensions.

Epic offers professionally fitted Showpony tape hair extensions. We do not currently offer weft, microbead, keratin bond or clip in extension services. Tape is a deliberate choice based on our experience fitting and maintaining extensions since 2008.
Our teams have seen methods change, have trained across and trialled other systems, and have previously worked with weft extensions. Tape continues to give Epic the balance we value for everyday wear: flat planned placement, adaptable distribution, detailed colour matching and the ability to remove, retape and reapply suitable hair at maintenance.
Showpony describes its permanent extension range as A+ grade Remy human hair. Remy means the hair cuticles are aligned in one direction, which supports a smoother finish and helps reduce tangling when the extensions are maintained with suitable products and techniques.
They provide different attachment profiles. Classic tape is a versatile general format. Slimline Tape has a finer profile for more discreet placement, while Skin Weft Tape is constructed to mimic hair growing from the scalp. Your specialist selects the format and position around natural density, visibility and the desired result.
The cost depends on length, number of packs, tape format, colour mix, stylist tier, application and any maintenance or removal required. Epic’s standard guide checked on 27/08/2026 ranges from $363 for a quarter head of 14 inch extensions to $988 for a full head of 24 inch extensions, before relevant surcharges or additions. It depends on your starting density, current haircut, desired length and whether the aim is targeted fullness or a complete transformation. Showpony packs contain ten tape pieces, creating five pairs or sandwiches. One pack is commonly described as a quarter head, but that label does not replace a consultation.
Epic’s current Showpony price guide includes 14, 20 and 24 inch tape extensions. Not every shade, tape format or length is necessarily held in every salon, so the consultation confirms suitability and product availability before the application booking.
Yes. Many clients do not want dramatic extra length. A smaller, carefully positioned amount can add density through finer sides or ends. The natural haircut still needs enough length and coverage to conceal the attachments and blend with the extension hair.
They can be suitable for some fine hair because placement and amount can be adjusted, but fine hair is not automatically suitable hair. The specialist must assess density, strength, scalp health and how much natural hair is available to support and conceal each attachment. Epic may recommend fewer pieces, a different goal or no application.
No professional extension method should be described as damage free. Risk is influenced by suitability, attachment weight, placement, installation, brushing, product use, maintenance timing and removal. Epic reduces avoidable stress through consultation, planned distribution, professional removal and clear home care, but will not promise that extensions carry no risk.
Showpony recommends maintenance every four to six weeks. Your timing may vary with natural growth, shedding, placement, amount and how the hair is worn. Waiting too long can increase tangling at the regrowth and place the attachments further from the support of the scalp.
Yes, suitable Showpony tape hair is designed for professional reuse. At maintenance, the pieces are removed, the old adhesive is prepared, new tape is applied and the extensions are repositioned. Hair quality and suitability for another application depend on age, home care, heat, chemical exposure and the condition of each piece.
There is no responsible fixed lifespan for every wearer. Extension hair does not receive natural scalp oils and gradually changes with washing, heat, products, swimming and everyday friction. Careful home maintenance and timely professional appointments can support reuse, while damaged or heavily worn pieces may need to be replaced sooner.
Current Showpony care guidance says to wait three days after application before washing the hair or excessive sweating. This gives the adhesive time to settle. Follow the specific instructions provided at your appointment because product and service protocols can change.
Yes, with extension appropriate technique. Support the attachment area while brushing, work gently from the ends upward and avoid pulling at the tabs. Keep direct hot tools away from the tape and follow Showpony’s current maximum heat guidance of below 185 degrees Celsius. Always use a suitable heat protectant recommended by your stylist.
Showpony advises that its extension hair should not be coloured or bleached. It should also not be permed, chemically straightened or treated with keratin. Plan the correct extension shades before application and never colour or tone the hair at home. Ask your Epic specialist before arranging any chemical service while wearing extensions.
Yes, after the initial three day settling period, but moisture and products need attention. Rinse the hair promptly after swimming, avoid sunscreen contacting the extension hair, dry the attachments thoroughly and do not leave the hair wet for long periods. Tie the hair securely without pulling on the tapes during exercise.
Never go to bed with wet extensions. Dry the hair and attachments thoroughly, then place the lengths into a loose plait with a metal free hair tie. A silk or satin pillowcase can reduce friction. Avoid tight styles that create pulling while you sleep.
The time depends on whether the appointment is a new application or maintenance, how many pieces are involved, whether removal and retaping are required, and how much cutting and styling completes the blend. Your consultation and booking confirmation should provide the most accurate time allocation.
