Epic Hair Designs’ own learning space gives apprentices a fully simulated salon environment in which to learn all things hairdressing.

Every session is supervised by experienced trainers who also work as qualified hairdressers in Epic salons. Services are selected around the students’ current training needs, so model suitability can vary from one session to the next.

Two academy experiences

Ascot and Greenslopes.

Ascot is the core apprentice learning environment. Greenslopes is Epic’s graduate salon space, where emerging stylists put their academy learning into practice during their final year.

At Greenslopes, emerging stylists put everything they learned at Ascot into practice while completing their final year.

The Salon Academy is fully overseen by an experienced educator and hairdresser. It gives graduate stylists room to refine their skills while models receive selected salon services at significantly discounted prices.

Before you enquire

A training salon works differently.

We will always aim for a result you love, but academy appointments require more time, flexibility and patience than a standard salon visit.

Apprentices are still developing their speed and experience. Some colour or cutting work may not be achievable on the day, and the team will discuss what is possible before proceeding.

Good to know: appointments are selected around current training needs, so only the service advertised for that session can be performed.

Allow extra time

Training services take longer than a usual salon appointment. The expected time is listed with each session.

Arrive with clean, dry hair

Shampoo the day before your appointment, except for Keratin Smoothing Treatments, which are prepared on the day.

Service fees apply

Ascot colour, highlighting, KKT and treatment services have a small fee. Greenslopes prices are significantly discounted.

Points are not redeemable at Ascot

Epic points cannot be used at Ascot Academy because its services are already heavily reduced.

Please attend alone

The training environment cannot accommodate children or additional guests while meeting space and safety requirements.

How long will I be required to attend the academy for my appointment?
As this is a training environment, services will take longer than usual, and patience will be required. Times will be noted on the website.
In which location will I need to attend?
Services will be done at either our Ascot academy in Ascot, Racecourse Village, 188 Nudgee Road, Ascot or at the Greenslopes Salon Academy- Greenslopes Mall, 700 Logan road, Greenslopes
How much will the service cost?
At Ascot academy- There is a small charge for all of our Colour, Highlighting and KKT and treatment services. Prices are displayed in each session and a quote given prior to the commencement of the service.. At Greenslopes Salon academy- Prices are significantly discounted.
Will I be able to purchase retail products from the academy?
All models can purchase retail and will receive a 25% discount.
Can I bring my children or a friend with me to the academy?
As much as we love to meet your friends and children, we unfortunately do not have the space in the training environment to enable us to meet all health and safety requirements and Covid19 restrictions.
Do I need to Shampoo my hair prior to arriving as a model?
Yes, please shampoo your hair the day PRIOR to your appointment at the Academy. All models must arrive with clean dry hair. (except with Keratin Smoothing Treatments, this is done on the day of service)
Can I have whatever I want done on the day?
Only the services required for the students training needs will be offered on the day.
Where do I park and how much does it cost?
There is free and unlimited parking on site at Racecourse Village and Greenslopes Mall.
How long can my hair be?
As the students are learning, extra long hair will not be suitable. Shoulder length hair or a little longer if the hair is fine is best.
