K18 says its patented K18PEPTIDE is biomimetic, meaning it is designed to mimic part of hair’s natural keratin structure. The peptide moves into the cortex and reconnects broken polypeptide chains and disulfide bonds.

What is a professional K18 hair treatment?
The complete K18REPAIR Pro Service is a salon only, two step service using Professional Molecular Repair Hair Mist and Leave In Molecular Repair Hair Mask. Epic may also recommend a mask treatment or detox and repair option where that better fits the appointment.
How does K18 work?
K18 says its patented biomimetic peptide travels into the hair cortex and reconnects broken polypeptide chains and disulfide bonds. It is designed to address damage from bleach, colour, chemical services and heat rather than only coating the outside of the hair.
Does a K18 treatment really take four minutes?
The Leave In Molecular Repair Hair Mask has a four minute activation time. The full salon appointment takes longer because consultation, cleansing, the professional mist where used, colour, cutting and styling are separate parts of the service.
Can K18 be added to blonde or colour services?
Yes. K18 is commonly considered for hair exposed to bleach, high lift colour or repeated colouring. It does not make unlimited lightening safe. Your stylist still needs to assess strength, elasticity and previous colour before recommending the plan.
Do you rinse K18 out?
No. The K18 mask remains in the hair. Once it has activated for four minutes, your stylist can add the appropriate finishing products and continue the service.
What is the difference between K18 and Olaplex?
They are different professional technologies. K18 centres on its patented peptide and hair’s keratin chains. Olaplex uses its patented bond building technology. Neither is automatically the right choice for every client. Your stylist can recommend the best fit, or you can compare Epic’s Olaplex treatments.
