Kim Kardashian’s Honey Blonde Hair Is Taking Over Instagram

We’re calling it now: ‘Jenny from the Block’ hair is back and it’s here to stay.

Kim Kardashian has ditched her platinum blonde hair for a honey blonde hue, marking the sign of a new era – and for all the right reasons. The makeover toned down her previously icy blonde hair with a warmer, honey blonde gradient. The fan-favourite shade has quickly emerged as one of the mane hair trends for summer 2023 and is flooding our feeds all thanks to Kim.

There’s no denying the power of the Kardashians – especially Kim, who sent everyone into a mad rush to recreate her new look. Even Bella Hadid debuted a honey blonde transformation just days after Kim shared hers. Guess there’s something in the air – and it’s honey.

The new look makes sense. This subdued version of the ever-popular bronde shade is the perfect transition into the warmer months. It’s rich, summery and you can rely on this hue to brighten up your complexion to match your bronzed skin. The golden tint is also soft and multi-dimensional thanks to a seamless blend of honey, gold and caramel coloured lowlights, with plenty of bright face-framing pieces.

The “less is more vibe” makes it easier to maintain and gives you more longevity than traditional blondes.  The key to keeping this look natural is by keeping the highlights in the brunette family and never going all the way to the root. Ask your stylist to leave the root tone natural so it gives perfect dimension between the honey blonde highlights and brunette base shade.

Celebrity hairdresser, Chris Appleton, shared a common mistake when he noticed the honey trend take off, as many were confusing the shade for caramel. However, honey-blonde is lighter, softer and more golden than caramel, which is much darker and has more contrast.

Since this bronzed honey shade has flooded our Instagram feeds, our salons have been hit with guests who are hooked on the trend. We have noticed a huge rise in the salon of people showing us images of Hailey Bieber, Rita Ora, Sophia Richie, and J-Lo for their transformation reference pics. Now, we don’t know about you, but we simply can’t get enough!

Of course, if you’re looking to get the most out of your salon visit with us, we recommend using specialised products at home to ensure you keep that golden glow. Look out for products that don’t contain sulphates or parabens that cause colour to fade faster. We absolutely love the Kérastase Chroma Absolu collection – it’s basically the holy grail for colour-treated hair. The specific ingredients conserve colour from rinsing out too quickly, helping you maintain that fresh salon look.

Like with any colour, your elixir shade will always fade over time, so we suggest booking in for regular glosses. This salon treatment usually only takes about 20 minutes and will recharge the brightness in your hue without booking a full colour service.
