1. Keratin treatments provide anti-humidity results

This in-salon treatment uses Kerashape Technology containing glyoxylic acid and smoothing ingredients such as keratin and silk proteins to create new keratin bonds. This results in more manageable, humidity-resistant smooth hair. This works to soften tight waves and smooth the hair structure resulting in humidity-resistant hair.

2. WHAT EXACTLY IS THE PROCESS?

Our Keratin Smoothing Treatments seals the hair cuticle with a coating of protein that eliminates frizz, adds softness and shine. Depending on your hair type, length, and thickness the process generally takes 2.5 hours. Although it can range anywhere between 1 and 3 hours. Prior to the treatment, your stylist will deeply clean your hair to remove any residue of other products. Once the hair is cleansed, the Keratin Treatment is applied from roots to ends and combed through for even distribution. The hair is then blow-dried and washed again with our specific Goldwell, Keratin Smoothing Treatment products. The hair is then set and styled.

3. How does a keratin treatment affect the health and colour of the hair?

The treatment makes the hair smooth and more manageable. We want to protect the integrity of your hair so if you’re after a colour service we recommend colouring your hair either 2 weeks prior or 2 weeks post your treatment.

4. what kind of hair is the ideal type for this treatment?

This is a really great question because a keratin treatment is not for everyone.  If your hair is coarse and frizzy and you’re looking to ease up your styling routine then this treatment is a great solution. If your someone who prefers to wear hair sleek and smooth and naturally has a curl, a keratin is for you.

5. what kind of hair is not the ideal type for this treatment?

If your hair is over-processed, fine, has a thin texture, is unhealthy or is naturally straight your hair could be at risk of breaking from the treatment. The high heat of the styling on this type of hair can cause damage. The same applied for bleached (highly processed) hair that is platinum or ice blonde. If your hair is currently curly, it’s also worth mentioning that this treatment will soften you curl and wave. If you’re not sure whether this treatment is for you we recommend visiting for a complimentary consultation. Your stylist may recommend a trim before the treatment to strengthen the integrity of your hair prior to the treatment.

6. how long does a keratin treatment last?

A Keratin Treatment will last you anywhere between 3-6 months depending on how often you’re cleansing your hair. This treatment will last longer when using our Goldwell Keratin Smoothing at home hair care ritual.

7. how many time a year can the treatment be applied?

Depending on how your hair reacts to the treatment and how well you are taking care of your hair at home, the treatment can be applied usually 2-3 time a year.
