As an industry first, Epic Hair Designs has designed mental fitness workshops to help our stylists manage their mental health.
At Epic Hair Designs, we believe that our hairdressers play an important role in the lives of our clients. We provide uplifting experiences with a welcoming space, meaningful conversations, and by helping others look and feel their best. However, it is important that we are prioritising our mental health as well, which is why we invited Savvy Style and Training to host our regular mental fitness workshops at our Epic Academy.
The six hour workshops, designed by Epic, help our stylists better understand emotions and focus on positive approaches for their mental health. In a post COVID world, emotions are often heightened and work burnout is on the rise. The Savvy Style and Training workshops have helped our stylists manage this in an empowering, fun and effective way.
Our stylists engaged in self-reflection and explored how concepts covered in sessions can apply to their personal and professional lives. By understanding these tools and strategies, our stylists learned how to build stronger relationships with our clients and their co-workers.
“I really valued the knowledge presented to us, especially in terms of putting professional boundaries in place to protect my own mental health and wellbeing in stressful situations”, said one stylist.
“My favourite part of the presentation was learning about the benefits of coping mechanisms and how it can affect your long-term mental stability. I will definitely implement the strategies I learnt from this course into my day-to-day life.”
The hairdressing industry can be demanding, both physically and mentally. Another one of our stylists shared that they learnt how important it is to prioritise self-care to avoid burnout.
“I learnt a lot of strategies on how to grow my own personal development. It is worth learning and acknowledging the information to help with our mental growth. I now know many different strategies that will help me in the salon and in my personal life,” they said.
This program also provides a sense of community and support as we connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.
