The Hottest Blonde Hair Trends for Summer

As the weather starts to heat up, the search for the best blonde hair trends has begun! The sunshine can do wonders for the spirit, and for many, it’s a sign to embrace lighter and brighter hair.

We’ve noticed hair getting blonder, and blonder, and blonder in our salons – whether our guests are naturally brunette, copper, or dark blonde. No matter what your vibe is, we’ve rounded up the hottest blonde hair trends to try this summer.

1. Nectar Blonde

This nectar blonde hair trend is all about that golden elixir shade that hits the perfect balance between brightness and boldness. Dripping with soft, luxuriously warm tones, this look is easy to pull off and maintain. The key is to ask your stylist to lighten your base colour to a golden blonde and add some warm vanilla cream highlights to your layers and face frame.

This hair trend looks best on those with medium based natural hair, as dark base colours tend to be harder to lighten. And remember to stay away from purple shampoo with this colour as it will take away your golden glow!

2. Targaryen Blonde

Calling all House of Dragon fans – Targaryen blonde is in, and it’s perfect for summer. The hue has seen a revival after the premiere of the Game of Thrones prequel, and it has inspired fans to ask their stylists for icy blonde hair. In fact, #targaryenblonde is currently trending on Tik Tok with 1.9 billion views flooding the platform!

It goes without saying that blondes will find it easier to take on this colour. Ask your stylist for an icy, platinum blonde. We recommend requesting a solid blonde from the root to the ends, either with a base, bleach and tone or high lift. Remember to bring a reference photo to set realistic expectations so that you and your stylist are on the same page.

3. Oat Milk Blonde

If you thought oat milk was just a milk substitute for your morning coffee, then think again. Oat milk blonde is as wholesome as it sounds and it makes for one heck of a hair colour. Warm honey tones, delicately whisked together with buttery oat highlights, creating a hair colour that’s as delicious as it is wearable. It’s the comfy t-shirt shade of hair shades – effortless, gentle, and easy to maintain.

The best part about it is the natural undertones that gives your hair a lived-in look that’s subtle around the roots as it grows out (because you all know how much we love a shadow root). But those light golden nuances woven in with the darker hues will make your hair shimmer in the summer sun.

4. Golden Highlights

After witnessing the ashy and cool colour hair trends, we now have many people shifting to something warmer. If you were blessed with naturally dark hair and would prefer a trend with minimal damage, try some golden highlights in a bright blonde hue. This look is a fairly low-commitment option that gives warmth to the skin and brightens up your complexion.

It will grow out well since it’s close to the root around your hairline and blended with your base colour throughout the rest of your hair. Pro tip: ask your stylist to blend highlights through the top layers of your hair to lighten the tone and leave the rest of your hair natural.

5. Bombshell Blonde

The barbiecore aesthetic is making a comeback, and in a major way. This blonde trend sits somewhere in the middle of not too warm and not too cool with a classic, barbie doll feel. A nod to the ‘90s hair trends, this barbie blonde is created with lots of foils, but thanks to modern hair care you can keep your locks looking healthy and vibrant.

Ask your stylist for a full head of blonde highlights and to leave them bright enough to be toned with a diluted hue. To protect your hair from dryness and damage, we recommend asking your stylist for the Olaplex salon treatment during your service so you can maintain that healthy glow all summer long!

6. Cancún Sun

Fair skin? You might want to gravitate towards a delicate and natural strawberry blonde tone. If you don’t have much lightness in your warmer blonde base, then this is the colour for you. This blend of golden, creamy spice tones is surprisingly wearable and looks just like a sunset in Cancún.

Always show your stylist a few different inspiration photos of the hair you’ve been dreaming of. This will help to narrow down any miscommunication between you and your colourist. For the girls with curls, consider this hair trend to make your texture really pop! The unique golden hue mixed in with your curls will look perfect when hit by a ray of sunshine.

7. Melted Pecan

Here’s another glamorous way to join the bright side if you have dark hair. Add some subtle highlights in an ombre style from your mid lengths to the ends of your hair. It’s tastefully natural looking, with minimal upkeep, creating that perfect sunkissed look.

Perfect for our low-maintenance babes, there’s no obvious grow-out with this look as the focus point for these highlights is away from the roots. Ask your stylist for a two-dimensional colour and keep the base colour close to your natural hair, while feeding babylights from the hairline, blending in to focus on the ends.
