On Sunday, 22 March 2026, communities across Queensland united for a powerful cause—marking the fifth anniversary of the Epic Walk for DV, one of the state’s leading events for domestic violence awareness and fundraising.
What began as a local initiative has grown into a statewide movement, bringing thousands of people together each year to support survivors of domestic and family violence and raise vital funds for Women’s Legal Service Queensland.

From Local Initiative to Statewide Movement
The Epic Walk for DV was founded by Epic Hair Designs’ Brendon Mann in response to the rise in domestic violence cases during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a grassroots effort has evolved into one of Queensland’s most impactful community events focused on domestic violence prevention and support.
Now in its fifth year, the walk continues to shine a light on an issue that affects thousands of Australians, while empowering communities to take action.
2026 Epic Walk for DV: A Record-Breaking Year
The 2026 event was the biggest yet, with walks held across four iconic Queensland locations:
- Brisbane
- Gold Coast
- Sunshine Coast
- Airlie Beach
Participants completed a 5km walk, returning to lively finish-line events filled with entertainment, connection, and community spirit. The event welcomed both returning participants and first-time walkers, all united by a shared goal—to help end domestic and family violence.
In 2026 alone, the Epic Walk for DV raised more than $360,000, contributing directly to essential services that support women and children in crisis.

Supporting Women’s Legal Service Queensland
Funds raised through the Epic Walk for DV go to Women’s Legal Service Queensland, an organisation providing free legal advice, support, and advocacy for those affected by domestic violence.
These services are critical in helping individuals escape unsafe situations, access justice, and rebuild their lives. Every dollar raised and every step taken contributes to creating safer futures for Queensland families.
The Epic Walk for DV Legacy
As the event celebrates its five-year milestone, its impact continues to grow. Since its inception, the Epic Walk for DV community has raised over $650,000 for domestic violence support services.
Beyond fundraising, the walk has helped:
- Raise awareness of domestic and family violence
- Encourage important community conversations
- Reduce stigma around seeking help
- Inspire collective action for change
Each year, the movement grows stronger, proving that small steps can lead to meaningful impact.

A Community United for Change
The success of the Epic Walk for DV is driven by its incredible community—walkers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who continue to show up year after year.
Whether participating for the first time or returning for another walk, every individual plays a role in building awareness and supporting those affected by domestic violence.
Make Your Steps Matter
As we reflect on five years of walking together for change, one message remains clear: every step matters.
The Epic Walk for DV is more than just a fundraising event—it’s a movement dedicated to creating safer communities and supporting those who need it most.
To everyone who has contributed to this journey, thank you. Together, we are making a difference—and the journey doesn’t stop here.
