When the temperatures start rising and the sun comes out, it’s officially time to embrace spring—and what better way than with a fresh new hair look for 2024? Whether you’re considering a bold haircut, a new colour, or simply want to experiment with different accessories and styles, this season is all about shaking off the winter blues and letting your hair bloom.
After doing a deep dive into trend reports and conversing with many of our hairstylists, here’s what we’ve learned about the hottest hair trends for spring 2024.
1. Sombre
A more subtle version of the classic ombré, sombré features a natural transition of color, with softer tones towards the ends. It pairs well with choppier, textured haircuts, and enhances the look by giving a lived-in, grown-out effect. Ask your stylist for a light, faded ‘sombré’ starting with a light brown at the roots fading to soft blonde ends. Make sure to tell your colorist that you want to see dimension throughout your mid-length to ends to help create that gradual blend.
Not only is this colour so dreamy and cloudlike, but it’s also a great low-maintenance option as far as blondes go, thanks to the shadow root. But you’ll probably want to coat your hair in a gloss every two weeks to keep its shine and health. And as with any blonde color, always incorporate protein treatments and bond-builders like Olaplex and K18 to help strengthen your hair.
2. Blue-Toned Red Hair Colors
From Becky G to Dove Cameron to Dua Lipa to Garcelle Beauvais, literally everyone is trading their hair colour in for bold, ruby hue. It offers depth and warmth to your colour without going the typical copper shade that has been popular recently. But the key to this look is going to be keeping your color as vivid and shiny for as long as possible, since red is historically difficult to upkeep. To keep your colour vibrant, we recommend getting your hands on some colour safe shampoos, such as the Kerastase Chroma Absolu Shampoo.
3. Louis Vuitton Brown
As seen on Karli Kloss and Selena Gomez, this Louis Vuitton shade is the next evolution of the “expensive brunette” trend. Inspired by the warm tones of vintage leather, this luxurious brown shade takes from the gorgeous rich tan, not too pale, but not too heavy or dark either. It’s a warm, golden brown with just the right amount of richness, ideal for those seeking a medium-brown hue that flatters various skin tones. To achieve the look, ask your stylist for a medium-light brown shade with a warm golden toffee tone.
For a smooth and shiny finish, regular nourishing treatments are essential. We recommend the Color Wow Money Masque, which is a deep hydrating hair treatment for all hair types that will make your hair glisten in the sun!
4. Off Black
This dark, cool-toned brown is almost black but avoids the starkness of a true jet-black shade. Seen on stars like Billie Eilish and Megan Fox, off black is dramatic yet softer, giving a striking look without overwhelming the features. This look stops the shade from looking too harsh or draining, but retains the striking, inky appearance of the hair.
When asking your stylist for this look, make sure you show them your inspo pic so they get the colour exactly right!
5. Vanilla Bean Blonde
We are loving the vanilla bean blonde look, a dimensional hair colour with lots of flexibility. The look is essentially warm, buttery blonde highlights added to a darker blonde base, which creates both lightness and dimension. Blonde is classic. It’s never not trending. This timeless shade requires minimal maintenance between salon visits and is perfect for those wanting a versatile blonde that still pops.
By having even the most subtle dimensions in the lighter colour worlds, clients can go longer between salon visits as new growth comes in and the line of regrowth is more subtle. No matter how light or dark your base is, even the slightest bit of contrast will create a beautiful dimension.
6. Playboy Blonde
A nod to the ’90s, this bright blonde is achieved with lots of highlights and is left “untoned” to give a slightly raw, bleached look. Thanks to modern haircare, this colour can be achieved while keeping the hair in healthy condition, which is important to keep this looking like an intentional fashion choice. To nail the shade, ask your stylist for a full head of perfectly lifted blonde highlights, left bright enough to be untoned or toned with a clear, diluted toner. Make sure to maintain the health of your hair afterward with a nourishing hair mask, like K18 or Olaplex.
