First aid hair kit | Our stylists share their tips for epic hair while social distancing

For most of us, work meetings and catch ups with friends have moved to facetime, and while it might be tempting to live a temporary top knot bun life, we want you to look and feel epic, even if it’s only from the waist up!

FROM HAIRCARE RITUALS, TO BRUSHING TO MAKING YOUR COLOUR LAST LONGER

DO: USE YOUR PRESCRIBED SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER TO maintain that salon fresh look

Taking care of your hair with the correct shampoo and conditioner can do wonders for your overall look .Keep your hair moisturised and supple while making your colour last longer. On those days when you do wash your hair we always suggest adding a pre- shampoo to your routine. This means an ultimate cleanse for your hair, especially oily types.

DON’T: overwash your hair

If you have professionally coloured hair you’ll want to retain the colour for as long as possible in between your appointments. With that, colour treated or non colour treated keeping up with your hair care routine is really important to maintain your scalps PH levels. A healthy scalp always allows for stronger and healthier hair which is why we recommend cleaning and conditioning your hair with your prescribed Kerastase or Goldwell ritual by your Epic stylist.

DO: invest in hair treatments

Maintain that fresh haircut feeling by investing in one of our split end serums. Regular deep hydration is the key to preventing breakage. For this, we recommend using overnight repair treatment oils like our Kerastase Magic Night Serum and Kerastase Elxir Oil to add shine and repair your hair from damage. Masks are another really effective way to repair damaged hair for stronger, thicker and shinier strands.

DON’T: STYLE YOUR HAIR WITHOUT HEAT PROTECTION

It’s no secret that blowdrying or straightening your hair frequently can mean severe damage to your hair if you’re not using heat protection products. Depending on your hair goals we have an array of heat protectors available to you that can be applied on wet or dry hair to protect your hair from the effects of heat. For a blowdry that will last we recommend applying your heat protection serum to your hair when wet and blow drying after you step out of the shower.

DO: IF YOU HAIR IS COLOURED, INVEST IN AN AT HOME TONING PRODUCT.

Depending on whether you are maintaining a high fashion colour like Elumen or an icy white blonde or if you’re simply wanting to maintain the longevity of your colour it’s crucial that you invest in a soft colour mouse, colour revive conditioner or toning shampoo. Your Epic stylist will customise your colour maintenance product based on your expectations and lifestyle.

DON’T: gO ROGUE WITH SCISSOR AT HOME

Stylists across the globe are unanimous in advising clients not to trim their own fringes or make any changes to their cuts on their own- even if your favourite youtuber did convince you it was easy enough! Having your stylist fix the damage done will be more time consuming and most likely more pricey than having it professionally cut and styled. Understanding if hair should be cut wet or dry, what level of damp is best in what scenario for specific textures, all of these understandings are learned skills.

DO: POP INTO THE SALON FOR A MAINTENANCE BASIN TONER

Keep your look salon fresh between your colour visits! We recommend visiting your stylist for a colour refresh with a professional toner. If your’e maintaining a high fashion colour or particularly a blonde and wanting to remove any brassy tones, professional salon toners are exactly what you need. Maintaining a balayage?

DON’T: Forget about the important of keeping up with your routine

Regardless of your hair type, your really can train your hair. Depending if you’re wanting to grow your hair naturally, reduce split ends or increase shine, following your prescribed Epic hair care routine will mean results in the long term. Stay strict with your haircare routine and don’t do anything your hairdresser wouldn’t!

DO: VISIT YOUR CLOSEST SALON FOR REGULAR TRIMS EVERY 6-8 WEEKS

Keeping up with your cuts is the first step to ensuring split ends don’t occur. Regular cuts promote healthy hair growth by removing the chance of split ends rising up your hair strands.
