Top 10 Hair Styles from the 2022 Met Gala

Need some hair inspiration? The Met Gala is the perfect place to find your next beauty look. From Vanessa Hudgens’ elevated topknot to Kaia Gerber’s voluminous mane, this year’s most anticipated red carpet was buzzing with the most popular hair trends of 2022.

The theme was Gilded Glamour – and the stars did not disappoint with hairdos going above and beyond to achieve some of the most incredible looks of the night. Let’s take a look at our top 10 favourite hair styles from the 2022 Met Gala.

1. Kaia Gerber

One of the biggest beauty trends we saw at the Met Gala was the cascading pre-Raphaelite curls seen on Kaia Gerber. A nod to the theme of gilded glamour as it refers to New York’s Gilded Age from 1870 to 1890 – where soft, undone waves were strictly reserved for intimate settings.

If there’s any time to immortalise this trend, it’s the Met Gala. Gerber traded in her traditional bob for some larger-than-life brushed out curls. She pinned back her mane with some silver hair clips that adorned her Alexander McQueen gown.

2. Kacey Musgraves

“A late 1800s reference through a 1960s lens.”

When it comes to golden glamour, Kacey Musgraves takes the cake. To create Musgraves’ elegant look, hairstylist Giovanni Delgado used Oribe products for high shine and frizz-free hold. You can purchase Oribe products, including shampoos and conditioners, nourishing hair oils and masks from any local Epic Hair Design salon.

3. Vanessa Hudgens

The Queen of Coachella has arrived at the Met Gala, swapping festival for formal as she co-hosted the Vogue livestream with a gilded gothic-inspired updo. Complete with elaborate braids and gemstones, the high updo helped show off her smoky cat-eye and accentuated cheekbones.

4. Alicia Keys

Talking about an updo, Alicia Key’s braided ponytail was literally a work of art. She wore her hair in one long braid, tied with crystal discs for a sparkling, futuristic aesthetic. While her ponytail is the main exhibit, it’s her perfectly swished edges and daintily placed jewels along the hairline that truly brought this look together, courtesy of hairstylist Fesa Nu.

5. Blake Lively

It’s never not a good hair day for Blake Lively, but her bright blonde mane brought a little extra. This year’s co-chair graced the carpet wearing the most regal accessory of the night: a tiara. Adorned with a semi-hidden braid and cascading waves, her hairstyle carried the crown perfectly. The fresh and glamorous look wrapped together her statuesque glam perfectly.

6. Kim Kardashian

You can never say Kim Kardashian doesn’t commit to a look. In fact, she made one of her biggest transformations yet: dyeing her hair platinum blonde. That’s right, Kim actually dyed her hair to channel the old Hollywood star and American icon Marylin Monroe.

Her trusty hairstylist, Chris Appleton, revamped her signature long brunette hair to platinum blonde and styled it in a slicked-back bun for the occasion.

7. Gemma Chan

Gemma Chan’s glam may have been relatively understated but sometimes less is more and this look proves it. The British star’s sleek, undone waves was paired with a baby quiff. The elegantly chic look shows once again that when it comes to the red carpet, Gemma always understands the assignment.

8. Paloma Elsesser

Showing off a sharp bob, the model reminded us what all the right angles are. Her sharp, chin-grazing bob structured her manicured arches and elongated eye makeup. The hairdo added a more contemporary referential flair to her ivory look.

9. Gigi Hadid

Right on cue, Gigi Hadid made quite the entrance with a beauty staple that is always in style. The reigning model arrived with a more modern yet just as striking with her blonde hair styled up. The slick up-do was also accompanied by some 00s-inspired spikes at the back. This year’s hairdo proves that Gigi’s streak of wonderfully ostentatious looks continues to go strong.

10. Emma Chamberlain

Hair accessories seems to be one of the trends making waves at this year’s event, with Emma Chamberlain donning a sparkling tiara on top of her blunt, piecey bob. Giving us punk princess, the look was inspired by the Gilded Age, but with a cool and modern twist. The tiara sitting on top of her icy blonde bob with two baby cornrows on each side of her head really spoke to a modern take on the theme.
