Gone are the structured and controlled hair looks that are typically seen on the runway. Taking their place are the more relaxed styles where hair is healthy and touchable.
That’s what we are noticing from the launch of David Jones’ stunning AW18 collection. The evening offered a taste of what’s to come for the cooler months ahead and we are so excited for the new season of hair. The AW18 launch was held at Sydney’s iconic Australia Technology Park where the show included some of the finest men’s and women’s Australian and international designers including Kate Sylvester, Jacquemas and Balmain.
The look of the night was feminine with a drop of glam. Rich patterns and dark floral prints where prevalent, complimented by lashings of healthy, shiny hair, tousled to perfection.Textured lobs and low textured ponytails were the most popular looks of the launch where little to no heat styling was necessary. The preparation is key
to achieving the AW18 runway looks and while hot tools were not heavily required, using the right products is paramount. Here’s how to achieve the perfect ponytail runway look:
1. Prep damp hair with a thickening product Goldwell Style Sign Glamour Whip. This is a light mouse product that provides texture and volume. Light blow-dry using the fingers to comb though
2. Create a centralised part by letting the hair loosely fall naturally. Smooth down sides of the hair using Goldwell Just Smooth Taming Lotion. This is a light and soft lotion that can be used on dry hair to secure fly-aways. Secure hair is a low pony tail at the nape with a hair elastic
3. Finish the ponytail by wrap hair around the elastic and securing with a bobby pin. To add extra volume and style, tie a second elastic towards the end of the pony tail and tease the hair between the two elastics, the products used of the hair will make this a breeze to texture
4. Finish with Goldwell Style Sign Diamond Gloss to create a shiny look without a sticky and structure finish
This season, be inspired by the David Jones AW18 campaign. Ditch the hot styling tools and opt for a more natural look. Investing and experimenting with exciting new products will help you achieve your best hair look this Autumn/Winter.
