Book Now

At Epic Hair Design all visitors can receive a personalised complimentary consultation. There is a reason for this. The consultation process is the first essential key to you and your Epic stylist achieving your personal hair design goals. This is where we get to know you and your hair so we can work together on a great plan of action. The staff from our Mt Gravatt Epic salon put their heads together and came up with the 5 essentials bits of information they feel helps them to make the optimum suggestions to you regarding your hair style and hair maintenance.

All of our stylist undergo constant training to give you the best result for your hair.

All of our stylist undergo constant training to give you the best result for your hair.

1. What is your lifestyle like?

Now, we’re not really checking up on how much exercise you are doing – or not doing! But we’d love to know what sort of exercise you do and what do you do with your hair, as again this may explain why your hair is in a certain condition. And we will also be able to advise the best products and style to complement your lifestyle. For example swimming in a chlorine pool often may dry your hair out or fade certain colours. When you go to the gym, do you tie your hair back? This is important to know when planning your next cut.

2. In between visits, how do you know it’s time to come into the salon?

We all know when it’s time for us to go to the hairdresser. But for each person there’s a different trigger or sign. It might be your regrowth – you can see those dark or grey roots showing through again and it’s got to the point where you can’t stand it any longer! For some that is 1 cm or others quite a few! Is your sign those split ends or your fringe and layers getting too long and annoying? We’ll also ask you when was the last time you had your hair cut so we can gauge how quickly your hair grows.

3. What is your biggest hair gripe?

We want to know what it is you don’t like about your hair. Why? So that we can help you either work with the issue effectively or get rid of it! Some girls LOVE the fact their hair is soooo thick. Others can’t stand it. Perhaps your hair is too fine and flying away. Another gripe could be that it grows too slow. Or perhaps you can’t stand those greys peeping through or those ‘cow licks’ at the back of your neck. Let it all out, girl! We’re here to listen and to help.

4. If you could choose one miracle ability for a hair product to do, what would it be?

Oh, this is a good question. This is really going to show us what solutions you are seeking for the most annoying problems for you. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Makes my hair shiny
  • Make my hair straight
  • Refreshes my colour without having to come into the salon
  • Repairs my split ends
  • Makes my hair feel healthy

5. What is your daily hair care routine?

Here we would like to know how often you wash your hair – every day? Once a week? Or every few days? How often do you straighten your hair with a heated straightener or blow dry your hair? Do you use hair treatments, and if so, how often? These answers will give us clues as to why your hair is in its present condition and what products would assist you in maintaining the condition and style of your hair, including the colour. With any new hairstyle, we might need to suggest a change in routine and it’s good to know upfront if that’s doable for you. Let’s face it, some people can’t be bothered using a straightener or blow drying their hair every day. On the other hand, if you do, we might be able to suggest a product or technique to make it just that bit easier.
